Support the digitization of Corato’s archives

Support the digitization of Corato’s archives to retrace the history of emigration from Corato, Puglia, southern Italy !

Goal: Raise €5,000 to finalize the digitization of Corato's civil records (1911–1938).

Since 2016, our project "A Tale of Two Twinned Cities: Corato and Grenoble" has achieved:

Building a genealogical tree with 27,000 interconnected individuals.

Creating a database with over 20,000 photos of authentic civil records.

Launching the website www.emigrazione-corato.org to promote Corato’s emigration history.

In collaboration with historians, universities, and international partners, we recently obtained authorization from the Archivio di Stato to digitize Corato’s civil records stored in Trani. So far, 11 registers have been digitized (3,752 images), but 130 registers remain—equivalent to nearly 250 hours of work.

Why do we need your help?

To complete this mission in 2025, we will mobilize a team of volunteers for one month. The €5,000 raised will cover travel and accommodation costs in Trani.

For a donation of $100, we'll make your complete tree, if you're of Coratino origin; and for a further $50, we'll identify who you're potentially related to in other countries.

Your support will:

Allow descendants of thousands of emigrants to access invaluable resources about their ancestors.

Link parish and civil archives seamlessly.

Enrich historical research and foster Roots Tourism centered on emigration history.

Donate now!

Join us in preserving this unique heritage and transmitting the story of emigration from Corato for future generations. Together, we’re building bridges between the past and the future.
